Learning and improving must never stop — no matter if you graduated college, completed a Bootcamp, or any other program. Design is constantly changing and evolving with each new generation of tech innovation. Styles and common practices are constantly being challenged and reinvented. Over the course of the past several months, I’ve used a variety of tools and resources to improve my skills in design as well as code! I’ve compiled a list of the ones that I’ve found most helpful. A more extensive list of tools can be found here: https://www.designresourc.es/. Design resources have been immensely helpful in finding tools to meet my growing needs as a product designer

Typography

Typography has been one of my more recent endeavors and really demonstrates an eye for the smallest of details. A few of my favorite design resources are:

Typewolf

Typewolf is a crowd favorite and a ton of designs mention leveraging the resources as a hub for inspiration for their designs.

Fontjoy

Fontjoy is a great tool to generate font pairings for you. Take it for a spin, experiment, and let me know the results!

Idea Generator

As a designer with no formal design experience — I’ve made it a habit of practicing and refining my design skills with mock projects. The resources I use help spark business ideas then I design either a home page website or a mobile app.

Fakeclients

Fakeclients is a practical and easy way to improve your design skills by having mock client projects. Who knows, maybe you could take one of these ideas and turn it into a live product!

IdeasAI

Powered by GPT-3, IdeasAI is a fantastic tool that I still cannot believe exists. Through AI — these resources generate startup ideas. What you can do with these ideas is then design a landing webpage for this hypothetical company. This was a great idea I came across while watching one of Flux Design’s youtube videos.

Webflow!

Over the course of the past few months, I’ve become a huge advocate of webflow and how powerful it is for a designer such as myself. Using properties like flexbox, css grids, and more, webflow has essential enabled me to become a web designer! I get so much joy out of experimenting the endless interaction possibilities and hope to learn After Effects/Lottie to further elevate my web designs.

For a more comprehensive list of design tools I highly urge you all to check out design resources! The list is constantly being updated with new tools that can help further streamline your design process!
